Rebeca Mojica CLASS #1 - b121600 Intermediate 3 hours Sunday, June 3, 2012 7:00pm-10:00pm CLASS #2 - b122587 Intermediate 3 hours Saturday, June 9, 2012 2:00pm-5:00pm |
This striking necklace combines different ring sizes and color fades for a dramatic effect. Though the project is simple to weave, keeping track of the components of the pattern—different size jump rings, directions of the spiraling, ring counts and colors—can be tricky. Learn tips and tricks for keeping it all straight. During breaks from weaving, you'll learn about color mixing with jump rings and using different size rings to taper your weave. Complete your necklace in the Fire mix as shown, or your choice of colors (multi or solid). You may upgrade to solid sterling silver or gold-fill for an additional fee. |

Create a dramatic—and surprisingly lightweight—necklace out of colorful aluminum “scales” and jump rings. Once you understand the pattern, you can easily (and quickly!) make bracelets and earrings. You'll learn how to adjust the orientation of the scales to create different textures. Create the “fire” version shown here, or combine other colors to create a fully customized piece. |

CLASS #1![]() CLASS #2 |
Rebeca Mojica CLASS #1 - b121595 Intermediate/Advanced 3 hours Friday, June 8, 2012 5:00pm-8:00pm CLASS #2 - b122586 Intermediate 3 hours Saturday, June 9, 2012 9:00am-noon |
Use graduated sizes to weave a pair of earrings, and use that as a launching board for understanding Aspect Ratio. You must have prior chainmaille knowledge, and will choose from four different patterns—Box Weave, Full Persian (Foxtail), Jens Pind or Byzantine (Birdcage)—to create your earrings. Customize the length to suit your tastes, and learn tricks for creating the perfect flare and a seamless taper even if you do not have access to odd-size wire gauges such as 17 and 19 gauge. Though you will make a pair of earrings, the focus of the class is getting you comfortable with your calculator, calipers and Aspect Ratio so you can convert ring sizes from inch to mm and determine what size rings to use if you want to recreate a piece you've seen in a magazine in a different gauge of wire. The instructor will have extra calipers, but it is highly recommended that you bring your own (recommendations will be sent by email prior to class.) |
