Finally, my computer is back! I didn't want to leave the entire series of updates (mostly entries such as, "well, my computer problems are taking longer than expected") on the main page, so I've archived them here for those folks who are curious, or who like peeking into every nook and cranny of my site....
;-)

18 February

Woo-hoo! I'm back and have access to all my files!

In a nutshell, what happened was that my power supply burnt out. However, my local computer repair place kept stringing me along, promising that it would be fixed soon, until I realized that they really had no idea what to do with my iMac. So I collected my computer from them, purchased a used iMac, and had a techie friend put my hard drive into the new (used) computer. Success at last!

While I was waiting for everything to be resolved, I set up a PC, which at least allowed me access to the Internet, and some of my files via my back-up hard drive. However, I could not open many files, which is why certain correspondence was delayed. Also, if you placed an order using a credit card during this time, your information is NOT on file; it has been shredded because I didn't have access to my secure database.

Lessons learned: 1) talk directly to the Mac technician instead of trusting that the store owner knows what he is talking about and 2) backups are definitely a necessary investment. The only thought that made me really happy during this whole ordeal, was the fact that I had backed up 2 days prior to the computer supply burning out. I could have kissed my backup drive!

Good news! All systems are go. My computer isn't actually fixed yet (and I don't have access to all my files), but I've worked out a viable alternative in the meantime. Woo-hoo!

07 February

Yet another) computer update. Repairs are taking longer than expected. I may be back on Friday, February 9, but Monday, February 12 is more likely. Once again, I apologize for any inconvenience. I can't wait to get my computer back!

31 January

Computer update! The earliest I expect to be fully back in business again is Thursday, February 8. I am able to process orders, but it takes a little bit longer, as I'm manually doing everything. (Wow, is this really how business was done in the days before ubiquitous computers?!?) Most orders will still ship within 2 or 3 days, but I know that's not the same-day service many of you are used to. I apologize for any inconvenience. Thanks to the many of you who have sent emails and called. I appreciate your support during this frustrating time. And yes, I did do a back-up recently, so even if my data is lost (unlikely) I'll only need to re-do one day's work. Thanks again for your patience!

30 January

Sad news: my computer has died! This means that I am temporarily unable to access emails or process orders. I hope it is not too difficult to revive my 'puter, so I can be up and running again soon. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
