For these rings: |
Enameled copper rings are some of the brightest and most colorful you'll find. They are made by adding a plastic enameled coating to copper wire. This coating is durable and shouldn't flake or peel, but as with all colored rings, the color will fade over time. Silvered enameled copper is made by plating the copper wire with a layer of pure silver before adding the enameled coloring. This process creates more shiny and brilliant colors than regular enameled copper.
Because the wire is coiled and cut after the coating is added (it would be virtually impossible to add the enameling after cutting the rings), you will see the original copper wire showing at the cut. This is visible in the photos below. However, these are saw-cut rings, so if you close them well, no copper should be visible. Note that the wire used to make enameled copper is dead soft, making these rings softer than any others that we sell. Therefore, the rings work best doubled, or in dense weaves with little chance of a ring getting caught on something and pulled open.
Actual colors may differ from batch to batch, as each spool of wire can be slightly different. These colors will also look different depending on your computer monitor settings. Generally speaking, however, the color is much more reliable than any of the anodized metals we sell.
Yes, we will eventually carry Mixes for these rings! Stay tuned....
