Suggested sizes for beginners:
Base Metal
L16 - 16g 1/4" (6.4 mm) &mdash about 12 rings per inch
or
H18 - 18g 3/16" (4.8 mm) &mdash about 15 rings per inch
Sterling Silver
J16 - 16g 7/32" (5.6 mm) or
H17 - 17g 3/16" (4.8 mm)
For a great looking pair of earrings (a little trickier, because the rings are smaller!):
