Mystical Waterfall

I did not plan on submitting something to the fashion show at the One of a Kind Show this year, simply because with everything else going on, I didn’t think I’d have time to craft something worthy. However, when they invited me to submit something last week, I couldn’t say no. So over the holiday, I whipped up a piece with size X12 (12ga 7/16″ / 11.1 mm) anodized aluminum. There are about 325 rings in this necklace. This batch of iridescent gunmetal came out just perfect, and I can’t wait to make a few more pieces to wear in the booth!

The photo isn’t the best, but I literally had about 2 minutes to shoot it, before I had to pack it up and get it in the mail. And now, to run back home and make more jewelry! All of my scale pieces sold at the DIY Trunk Show, so I’m making dozens more by Thursday. Whew!

CHAINED book release!

Introducing CHAINED!

Rebeca’s first book, CHAINED: Create Gorgeous Chainmaille Jewelry One Ring at a Time has officially been released!

This long-awaited book explores Japanese, Byzantine and Helm weaves as well as the unique technique of “coiling” – adding tiny rings into weaves and variations of weaves to create an amazing new effect.  The full color, step-by-step instructions make this book ideal not only for veterans who want to expand on their technique but for folks picking up pliers for the first time.  It is truly the chainmaille book you have been waiting for, and we think you’ll agree – it was worth the wait!

There are lots of great options when it comes to buying your copy of CHAINEDVisit the Chained website to find out about the benefits of each option.

Stay tuned for the debut of our CHAINED kits page later this week!

Dishwashing person needed :: Help us be green and make some green to boot!

We make it a priority to think green here at B3, and we couldn’t possibly imagine using a bunch of disposable dishes, napkins, and cutlery when we celebrate the release of Rebeca’s book at Lillstreet Art Center on December 11th.

We are looking for one dishwashing person (+1 on call in case it get’s to be too much for one person to handle) to work the CHAINED book release party at Lillstreet. The dishwasher will receive $8/hr, plus tips from the tip jar.  In addition this helper will received a free autographed copy of CHAINED and 30% off any CHAINED kits purchased.

Interested folks need to be available to work from 2:30pm on until the last dish is washed (likely around 5:30.) The on call dishwashing person must also be available during that time period but may or may not be asked to jump in and wash dishes.  The on call person will receive an autographed copy of book no matter what. If they end up washing dishes, they will receive the same payment and kit discount as described above.

The dishes for the party have been generously donated by a long-time, super-awesome student of Rebeca’s and we appreciate it so much!  Sure it’s an extra step to clean them all during the event, but we think it’s worth it to save some trees and eliminate waste.  If you are interested in being the dishwashing person, please contact our General Operations Manager Nadja Aller by emailing her at [email protected].

Interested in coming to the book release party?  Make sure to join our CHAINED book mailing list by entering your email at the bottom of our CHAINED FAQ page.

I made the cover!

I am honored and beyond thrilled to have my Snowflakes project featured on the cover of the December/January 2011 issue of Step by Step Wire Jewelry Magazine.  It’s my first solo magazine cover! (I literally jumped up and down when I saw it!) The issue just hit newsstands, and yes, even though we don’t typically carry magazines, we do have a stash of issues available

for our customers.

Earlier this year, my Crystal Ring Byzantine bracelet was featured on the cover of Wirework 2010. Having two covers in a single year … well, let’s just say that I am incredibly proud and happy with what I’ve accomplished. And of course, I thank all of you guys for continuing to inspire me to create and develop new designs. :-)

We’ll have kits available for the Snowflakes projects soon, so stay tuned!
